This medical specialty deals with the medical care of infants, children and adolescents. A pediatrician provides preventive heath services, developmental assessments and general medical care, including the diagnosis and treatment of infections, injuries and many types of illnesses. A pediatrician is also trained in emotional and behavioral assessment for young patients.
A pediatrician requires seven years of education and training to become board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. This training includes four years of medical school and a one-year internship in pediatrics, followed by a two-year residency in pediatrics.
To serve our communities more fully, we have pediatricians who are members of two medical groups that are integrated into our healthcare system – Lakeside Community Healthcare Medical Group and Lakeside Community Healthcare Network.
Lakeside Community Healthcare Medical Group is a multi-specialty group whose physicians are employed by Lakeside Community Healthcare. The group consists of more than 130 physicians, including primary care physicians and pediatricians, as well as physicians who specialize in such fields as cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, urology and more. These physicians work in a coordinated organization, providing care to patients with most types of health insurance, including HMO, PPO, EPO, Medicare and Medi-Cal. By working with Lakeside Community Healthcare, they are also part of a comprehensive healthcare system committed to providing quality care for patients.
Lakeside Community Healthcare Medical Group has offices conveniently located in Burbank, Glendale, Mission Hills, North Hollywood, Santa Clarita, Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Agoura Hills and West Covina.
Lakeside Community Healthcare Network is an independent physician (practice) association (IPA). IPA physicians practice in their own private offices and have aligned with Lakeside Community Healthcare Network to provide medical services to patients with HMO insurance plans.
Lakeside Community Healthcare Network is comprised of more than 2,000 physicians, a number of whom are primary care doctors and pediatricians. Each physician maintains his or her private practice and yet has the benefit of working within a system to expedite referrals, claims and authorizations, and utilize a comprehensive, integrated network of services and programs.
