Urgent Care FAQs

  • What are the advantages of using Lakeside Community Healthcare Urgent Care versus a hospital emergency room?

Lakeside Community Healthcare Urgent Care is the right alternative to an emergency room for medical problems that are not life threatening but need immediate attention. Urgent care centers typically offer shorter wait times, access to follow-up care and lower prices than an emergency room. Typically, if you have out-of-pocket expenses for urgent care, in most cases they will be less than out-of-pocket expenses for emergency care. There is no appointment necessary.
  • When should I use an urgent care center?

An urgent care center is the right choice when you have a medical situation that needs attention, but your primary care physician is not available; when your medical condition is not serious enough to require the emergency room, but still requires immediate attention; or when you are traveling out of town. Lakeside Community Healthcare Urgent Centers, as well as our contracted urgent care centers, have extended hours so we are here when you need us. Our physicians can treat you and refer you back to your primary care physician for follow up, or we will continue to follow you at the urgent care center until you are back to optimal health. We understand you are coming to us in times of need. That’s why our caring staff goes out of their way to make your visit more pleasant. Lakeside Community Healthcare Urgent Care is staffed by board-certified/board-eligible physicians. Our goal is to provide high quality medical care for the evaluation and treatment of non-life threatening episodic illness and injury for adults and children.

When it's not quite an emergency, Lakeside Community Healthcare offers fast, convenient and affordable quality health care. Mild headaches, stomach aches and sprained ankles can be painful, but do not usually require a visit to the emergency room. However, these conditions often require urgent attention because prompt care is required, either because of discomfort or the fact that your doctor is not available for a visit. We also treat most common illnesses and injuries with the exception of severe trauma and life threatening illnesses, such as heart attacks.

    Urgent care centers treat:

    Illness
    Infections
    Allergic reactions
    Automobile accidents
    Back injuries
    Burns
    Cuts and contusions
    Fractures
    Sprains
    Sports physicals
  • Why should I call my personal physician first?

Your personal physician is aware of your medical history and any treatment you may be receiving. Personal physicians often keep same or next day appointments available for patients with urgent conditions. You should also contact your personal physician after a visit to urgent care to get any necessary follow-up care and make sure that your personal physician is aware of any treatment you are receiving. Some insurance companies require patients to have a referral from their personal physician before being seen at an urgent care center.

  • What are fees and how does insurance apply?

Fees are due and payable at the time of service. We accept cash, personal checks and major credit cards. A health insurance card should be presented at registration. We participate with most insurance plans, including Medicare. We are a participating provider for Lakeside Community Healthcare Medical Group.
